Make it a Life Resolution!

Why hello lovelies!
I hope you’re enjoying the New Year so far!
Quick poll. Who’s broken their 2015 resolution(s) already? It’s OK if you said yes – no judgment. I too, would have failed (miserably) had I made any this year.
Every January it’s the same thing. We think of all these wonderful things we promise to do each year i.e. work out more, eat healthier, stop nagging significant other, spend less etc..etc… But by mid January, most of those goals have all been tossed out the window. Sound familiar?

Don’t get me wrong, I think the start of a new year is the perfect time to self-reflect and improve on the things you don’t love about your life. Still, I believe, it’s also important to focus on the good things that did happen in the past year. Let’s see, I didn’t make it to the gym three times a week last year, and I still can’t stop myself from eating potato chips. But I can say, that I as part of my goal to spend more “me” time, I am now caught up on every episode of Scandal. Having started watching the ABC drama series only a few months ago, I think that’s “me” time well spent!
If you made a list this year and still haven’t broken it – good for you, keep up the great work! If you’ve failed already, or didn’t make one, who says you can’t start again? Or make one now? But this time, let’s try something new. Instead of calling them 2015 resolutions, let’s call them “Life Resolutions” – that way they’re not only goals to aspire to, but rather inspirations to live by.
Here are mine:

  1. Live in the moment – don’t dwell on the past. Tomorrow’s a new day.
  2. Cherish those you love. It’s not what you have in your life that matters, but who that counts.
  3. Love yourself inside and out. After all it’s your opinion that matters.

Feel free to share yours! Until next time…

Do you Sneeze while you Tweeze?

Hi Friends,

Do you ever sneeze while you tweeze?  If so, you’re not alone.

The other day I was plucking my eyebrows and I couldn’t stop sneezing. I realized, this happens to me often while I’m tweezing.  After some research, I found the urge to sneeze while plucking your eyebrows is quite common.  The reason why?  Your facial nerves include something called the trigeminal, which has a branch that extends from the eyebrow down into the tip of your nose.  So, when you’re plucking your brows, the nerve is stimulated, causing you to sneeze, or at least, want to sneeze.

A tip to avoid this: While tweezing, press your finger anywhere against your eyebrow.  This apparently can short-circuit the wiring of the trigeminal nerve.

Pretty cool hey?  If you have a fun-fact you wish to share, email us at or leave us a comment below.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

What Your Blood Type Says About Your Personality

It’s Fun Fact Friday!

Based on our extensive research on the Internet, and help from Google of course, we found significant (unproven) data to entertain this “so-called” blood type-personality theory – since the Internet is always right, you know.

In South Korea and Japan, many people believe that blood type can reveal a lot about you; including your personality, your temperament and your compatibility with others.  So, while in North America you’re often asked, “What’s your (Zodiac) sign?” In South Korea or Japan, you would be asked, “What’s your blood type?”  We’re not kidding.

According to the sources we found, the whole idea surfaced back in the 1920s and is still widely used today.  Here’s a look at the four basic blood types and some of the personality traits that go along with them

Type A:

People with blood type A are said to be considerate, patient, loyal and often punctual.  They can also be secretive and reluctant to share their feelings due to their shy, reserved and introverted nature.  Blood type A’s are also said to be highly creative and are often perfectionists, leading them to also be obsessive, stubborn, and uptight.  They can also be self-conscious and unable to express their emotions well.

Type B:

Blood type B’s are said to enjoy life, are passionate, wild and active.  They can also be creative and optimistic.  Type B’s love animals, and are passionate about the people and things they hold dear.  They also can be individualistic, independent and don’t care what others think of them.  On the more negative side, blood type B’s can be forgetful, impatient and can give up easily.  They are often described as shallow, lazy, self-centered and irresponsible.  Blood type B men have a bad rep for being “players” and “bad boys.” Type B women don’t share this bad “rep” for unexplained reasons (perhaps the authors were women??).

Type AB:

People with blood type AB are known to be very introverted, controlled and rational.  They are said to think with their heads, not their hearts.  With an “I can do anything” attitude, type AB’s have strong concentration and can be highly intelligent.  They can sometimes show an authoritative attitude, but can also be shy, aloof and indecisive.  Type AB’s can be critical, unforgiving and like to be distant from others – preferring to be alone.  Type AB’s are said to be good with money, but are unpredictable.

Type O:

Blood Type O’s

People with blood type O’s are said to be natural leaders, and are outgoing, energetic and optimistic.  While they speak their minds, they are friendly and easygoing. They are also expressive, passionate, self-confident and highly ambitious.  Blood type O’s have a strong physical presence and are unlikely to be overlooked.  They are also natural athletes.  More negatively, Type O’s tend to be overdramatic, which can make others feel uncomfortable.  They can also be arrogant, insensitive, ruthless, vain, and obsessively preoccupied with success.

Similar to astrology, there is no scientific proof to back this blood type-personality theory.  However, just for fun, we tested it with some of our own loved ones, and found some of the qualities matched perfectly.  For instance, our Connie is blood type A, which from our research shows, blood type A’s are often perfectionists!  Enough said? Only kidding.

Does your blood type description match your personality? Or is it totally off?  Tell us in the comments below.

To find out more about this theory, just do what we did: Google “blood types and personalities.” Gotta love Google!

Until next time,

Looking forward to meeting the newest member of our MIYU family…

Soo… I’ve been keeping this a secret for a little while now, but now that we are closer to the due date, I thought I would take this opportunity to share some exciting news with all of you… the hubby and I are expecting our first baby!  We are ecstatic to welcome this new bundle of joy into our lives and into the MIYU family!  My friends and family always joke that I’m having 2 babies this year – MIYU and now a baby girl!  Words cannot express what a great gift this is – I am truly grateful.  For both babies, it has been a long journey for us to get here.

Similar to the launch of MIYU, I am filled with excitement, apprehension and wonder about how this new chapter in our lives will transpire.  Well MIYU-ettes, for your eyes only, here are a couple of maternity pictures that we have taken over the weekend by the very talented photographers Oink & Coo.  Of course, Linda couldn’t help herself and already shared a couple of them on Instagram :).
