It’s Fun Fact Friday!

Based on our extensive research on the Internet, and help from Google of course, we found significant (unproven) data to entertain this “so-called” blood type-personality theory – since the Internet is always right, you know.

In South Korea and Japan, many people believe that blood type can reveal a lot about you; including your personality, your temperament and your compatibility with others.  So, while in North America you’re often asked, “What’s your (Zodiac) sign?” In South Korea or Japan, you would be asked, “What’s your blood type?”  We’re not kidding.

According to the sources we found, the whole idea surfaced back in the 1920s and is still widely used today.  Here’s a look at the four basic blood types and some of the personality traits that go along with them

Type A:

People with blood type A are said to be considerate, patient, loyal and often punctual.  They can also be secretive and reluctant to share their feelings due to their shy, reserved and introverted nature.  Blood type A’s are also said to be highly creative and are often perfectionists, leading them to also be obsessive, stubborn, and uptight.  They can also be self-conscious and unable to express their emotions well.

Type B:

Blood type B’s are said to enjoy life, are passionate, wild and active.  They can also be creative and optimistic.  Type B’s love animals, and are passionate about the people and things they hold dear.  They also can be individualistic, independent and don’t care what others think of them.  On the more negative side, blood type B’s can be forgetful, impatient and can give up easily.  They are often described as shallow, lazy, self-centered and irresponsible.  Blood type B men have a bad rep for being “players” and “bad boys.” Type B women don’t share this bad “rep” for unexplained reasons (perhaps the authors were women??).

Type AB:

People with blood type AB are known to be very introverted, controlled and rational.  They are said to think with their heads, not their hearts.  With an “I can do anything” attitude, type AB’s have strong concentration and can be highly intelligent.  They can sometimes show an authoritative attitude, but can also be shy, aloof and indecisive.  Type AB’s can be critical, unforgiving and like to be distant from others – preferring to be alone.  Type AB’s are said to be good with money, but are unpredictable.

Type O:

Blood Type O’s

People with blood type O’s are said to be natural leaders, and are outgoing, energetic and optimistic.  While they speak their minds, they are friendly and easygoing. They are also expressive, passionate, self-confident and highly ambitious.  Blood type O’s have a strong physical presence and are unlikely to be overlooked.  They are also natural athletes.  More negatively, Type O’s tend to be overdramatic, which can make others feel uncomfortable.  They can also be arrogant, insensitive, ruthless, vain, and obsessively preoccupied with success.

Similar to astrology, there is no scientific proof to back this blood type-personality theory.  However, just for fun, we tested it with some of our own loved ones, and found some of the qualities matched perfectly.  For instance, our Connie is blood type A, which from our research shows, blood type A’s are often perfectionists!  Enough said? Only kidding.
