Yes, we’re a bit late on posting this on the blog, but if you have been following us on Facebook, you would’ve have already seen that our de-stress mi beauty essence was featured in Elle Canada’s Nov 2013 issue!  This is really a dream come true for us!  Linda has been doing a phenomenal job with landing us coverage and we can’t wait to spread the MIYU love to more and more of you!  Anyway, without further ado, check it out…

We’re on!

Happy Monday lovelies!

We couldn’t contain our excitement today when we discovered our feature on! As some of you may know, I had created a beauty blog called Chronicles of a Beauty Nerd a little over a year ago, where I shared much of my industry knowledge and reviewed the beauty industry’s latest and greatest. Of course, now that I have started MIYU, time does not permit me to continue with Beauty Nerd, but it’s still nice to be recognized for the transition from my beauty blogging days to finally launching my own line.

Sometimes it still feels a bit surreal that something I have dreamed of for so long is finally happening. All I can say is, follow where your heart takes you and enjoy every step of the journey…

MIYU Beauty makes “The Cut”

The past month since our launch has flown by and it’s hard to believe we are already in the Fall season! Linda has been working hard at getting MIYU covered by beauty editors and bloggers all across North America, all in hopes of spreading the word about MIYU.

MIYU Beauty Launches in North America


After years of top-secret development and behind-the-scenes discussions with industry insiders, MIYU {pronounced mee-you} Beauty is now making its official debut in North America.  Drumroll please!!


As the first lifestyle beauty brand to artfully pair teas with skincare, MIYU expects to revolutionize the industry – aiming to redefine today’s beauty ritual.  Now we’re not saying to ditch your coveted creams and cleansers, but with MIYU’s unique tea and skincare pairings women can now effortlessly pamper their complexions from the inside out, in a delightful way.  What a concept!  At least we like to think so.


Founded by Canadian girl Connie Tai, MIYU’s innovative concept came about while she was living out her childhood dream developing skincare products for leading New York spa and beauty company Bliss spa.  During her time in NYC, Connie started developing skin sensitivities she never had before.  She soon realized the significant impact external factors had on her skin, including: poor diet, lack of sleep and stress.  She’s definitely not alone.  Empowered by this knowledge, Connie set out to create a line of effective products that could nourish the skin from within, while serving as a perfect complement to a healthy lifestyle.

MIYU Beauty Partners with Birchbox to Reveal Debut Collection in the United States


We are head-over-heels-ecstatic to announce our partnership with Birchbox, the leading discovery retail company changing the way people shop, to unveil MIYU’s debut collection of pretty products.


Since launching in 2010, Birchbox has become the leading global discovery commerce platform for both men and women.  With more than 400,000 subscribers, Birchbox gives users the chance to enjoy first hand experiences with new products each month through their sample boxes.


Of course, with that in mind – who wouldn’t want to jump on the Birchbox bandwagon?  Hello – we do!!  At MIYU we love the Birchbox success story, and the overwhelming excitement each of their boxes delivers each month.  We hope by partnering with Birchbox MIYU products can also help spread a little joy!

These are exciting times for us at MIYU as our August launch is fast approaching.  With just over a month to go, our team has been busy working hard fine-tuning all the details.

Officially Cruelty-Free!!

At MIYU Beauty we’ve always loved our animals, but now we can shout it from the rooftops!  MIYU is now officially cruelty-free.



The coveted stamp of approval comes from the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics Leaping Bunny program, the only international non-animal testing program of its kind.  What that means is MIYU promises no animal testing is done in any phase of our product development or through our suppliers.



We’re proud to be a part of Leaping Bunny, and we know Chocco & Dior (seen above with Connie), and my little guy, Maximus are just as excited as we are.

Meet the MIYU Team!



Just three months and counting until MIYU Beauty’s big unveil, and while we can’t tell you just yet, exactly what we’ve been up to we’d like to take this opportunity to at least introduce you to the faces behind MIYU.

First up: Our beautiful CEO & Founder Miss Connie (seen above)

Connie’s the big boss around MIYU.  She decides what lovely products get developed, the powerful ingredients that go into them, and what qualifies as swoon-worthy packaging for MIYU.  Connie’s love for the beauty industry began at an early age, but she knew simply just loving creams and lotions wasn’t enough to begin a career with.  So that’s when her journey began, first studying Chemistry and then moving on to the Big Apple to follow her dreams of masterfully creating beauty products.  Since then, she’s developed dozens of top sellers for both Bliss & Cargo Cosmetics.  Now, back in Toronto, Canada she’s almost ready to launch MIYU, her very own lifestyle beauty brand.  Behind Connie’s success, has a lot to do with the fact she doesn’t like to take ‘no’ for an answer.  Ask anyone she’s ever worked with.  Seriously.  When Connie’s not designing skincare, she’s either spending time with her two kitties, Chocco & Dior or enjoying a quiet dinner with her husband.  Connie’s must-have beauty product (other than MIYU’s products)?  Her eyebrow powder to fill in her brows.  And her famous words of advice: “Don’t try to defend yourself against naysayers… just show them!”

Next there’s me: Miss Linda.  My title is Account Executive, but at MIYU that means many things.  I’m the one who answers press inquiries, calls retailers non-stop to tell them why MIYU’s so great, and I occasionally help Connie with marketing.  While, my background is in media, as a former television reporter, it’s interesting to have the tables turned. That’s right – I’m the one who is now bugging press, and the public in general, to try to gain a following for MIYU – umm so why haven’t you liked MIYU Beauty on Facebook yet?

Oh wait, one more thing, I’m also the girl in the MIYU product pictures.  Yup, as you’ll soon see, that’s me! Told you Connie doesn’t take no for an answer :). When I’m not immersed in MIYU you’ll find me spending time with my puppy, or reluctantly working out at the gym.  My beauty product must-have, I would have to say is my hair spray.  And my favorite quote: “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

MIYU attends Lovestruck…

Wow, how time flies!  It’s been over a week since we’ve attended Lovestruck and I am just getting around to posting our photos now.  Linda and I were fresh faced, bright and early, ready to set up our booth! Wasn’t the entrance adorable?

Before the guests came, we had to take care of some mandatory paperwork – oh such a serious face I had ;)!


We worked hard creating our own M-I-Y {make-it-yourself} ribbon backdrop – what do you think?  Did our hard work pay off?

As you can see, the turn out was quite fantastic.  The room was buzzing with energy – think violinists, dancers, mockup bridal parties and DJ’s – one could not be bored!  Newly engaged couples perused the booths for creative ideas, hoping to gather some inspirations for their own impending weddings.  Ah yes, and there’s Linda (shown above), busy serving samples of our hydrate mi beauty tea to guests.

At the show, we also launched our much anticipated wedding favours, in a pretty little pyramid box, each containing 2 sachets of our hydrate mi beauty tea.  It’s a little token that all your wedding guests can enjoy…


At the end of the day, we were unbelievably exhausted but happy with the turn out.  We’ve received a fantastic response from guests visiting our booths and we made friends with fellow vendors at the same time.  We were blown away by everyone’s creativity.  How lucky were we to be in their company!
